Young horses broken in
This summer/fall, the three year olds Copar, Gustur, Cvika and Drífa, were taken into training for six weeks. They were trained under the saddle for the first time and taught a few basic exercises. They then were assessed by Svana in october. Their test included:
- Standing still loose and attached while being prepared for riding
- Responding to demands from the ground when lunged or with normal reins
- Being ponied outside first without and then with a rider
- Being ridden behind and in front of another horse outside
- Tölting/trotting and galloping when ridden outside
Svana gave all four got the grade “Excellent” for both education and behaviour. This feels fantastic since the whole team (Jennifer, Stina and Berglind) has been involved in their learning curve with Charlotta’s support.
Copar, Gustur, Cvika and Drífa are now back to their hereds, enjoying some well deserved time off until February next year. We are hoping that some of them will participate in breeding shows in 2017 when they are 5 years old.
Copar: born in France, stallion.
Gustur: born in Iceland, stallion.
Ckvika: born in France, mare.
