Marie & Egill frá Miðhrauni
On the 13th of August, we sold Egill frá Miðhrauni, an 8 year old gelding, to Marie, acting student from Paris.
Marie discovered the Icelandic Horse in the summer of 2014 during a trip she made in Iceland. She then fell in love with this breed and decided she would be buying her own horse.
Her goal being riding all over France as well as practicing ethology, she was looking for a reliable companion that was ready to form a strong bond with its owner.
We quickly thought of Egill, a young, quite timid but extremely kind gelding in need of a rider whom he could trust in order to open up completely.
And indeed, when Marie came to see Egill in july, we had the confirmation we needed ! She lunged him first, then rode him and decided relatively fast that this was THE horse she was looking for.
For our team, the “coup de coeur” was mutual. Knowing Egill, we knew that if he did not trust his rider, he could be very sensitive and scared when he or she asked him to work. With Marie, we quickly realised that, whatever she did, Egill trusted her perfectly.
Today we are still a lot in contact with Marie so we can help her progress with Egill. She now understands the difference between the aids for tölt and trot very well and the pair of them seems to be very happy.
I am a little bit more surprised every day by his focus, his curiosity and his kindness. On top of that, he learns very fast whether we work on physical or on mental, emotional aspects!
When you are a breeder and you sell your horses, it is a very satisfying feeling to see that the new owner of a horse will enable it to keep blooming. For us at Pur Cheval, finding a new owner that can really be in harmony with his or her horse is very important. This way, we see our horses go with a lighter heart. Even if it is always hard to say goodbye.
Thank you to Marie for allowing us to share the beginning of her adventure with our readers. We wholeheartedly wish her and Egill all the best for the future.
