World Toelt and trip to Iceland

Glóðafeykir wins the World Toelt

At Pur Cheval, February ended with Glóðafeykir participating to the World Toelt. A competition in which Glóðafeykir once again proved his success by getting the best score from the judges as well as being chosen to be the winner by the audience. It is fantastic for us to see the impact this stallion and what he means to us is having on the Icelandic Horse world.

Few were those whose eyes were still dry when Jóhann Skúlason, Svanhvít Kristjánsdóttir and Glóðafeykir received their price while the presenter was honouring Einar Øder’s memory.

We strongly encourage everyone to go to the World Toelt which is a fantastic show presenting high level horses in the sport’s classes. The german riders left everyone with a great impression through their beautiful and precise performances.

Soon he will be heading to Helsingör in Denmark to start the covering season at Torbens and Tania’ farm.

Trip to Iceland

Directly after the World Toelt, Charlotta flew to Iceland to visit our horses in Miðhraun. Like always in Iceland, the skies were blue, the snow was fresh and smooth and a light breeze freshened the air.

The main task of the trip was to observe the herd and decide which horses will be imported to France this year. A small group was chosen to travel in April: Jökull, Klöpp, Baltasar, Þór and Gnarr. A three year old mare named Polka will also be travelling with them. She is Sif’s full sister, a great riding mare we sold about a year ago.

A group of foals was also selected by Charlotta to come to France in September.

The next step of the trip was to go to Berg, where two of our horses are being trained: The stallion Hermóður frá Miðhrauni, which we hope will go to breeding show this year and Ofsi frá Miðhrauni, a three year old son of Arður frá Brautarholti and Valgrá frá Ketilsstöðum which has evolved a lot in the past few months and will now enjoy a well deserved holiday.

Finally, the last phase of the trip brought Charlotta to Halakot, Svanhvít’s farm where we always have a few horses being trained. This time, Kormákur and Urður were there.

Kormákur, a beautiful black stallion sired by Glóðafeykir and Limra frá Kirkjubæ 2 left a great impression on Charlotta. He is elegant and has a great presence. We believe a lot in his potential and it will be very interesting to follow his evolution through time.

Urður, a 6 year old mare sired by Sædynur frá Múla and Maja frá Dallandi, also shows a lot of potential and we hope she will get good grades when shown for breeding this summer.

We invite you to come back to this page in the next few days. A video of those two promising horses will the be online to satisfy your curiosity.
