Icehorse Eindhoven 2017

This march, for the second year in a row, the Pur Cheval team travelled to Eindhoven in the Netherlands to participate in a yearly competition on ice.

Icehorse Eindhoven is a fantastically well organized event on a 400m long ice skating track. It is surrounded by all the facilities you need for a great day with horses.

The team arrived in Eindhoven with Hrísey frá Langholtsparti and Glóðafeykir frá Halakoti on Thursday the 16th in order to be able to practice on the ice on the Friday (the competition took place on Saturday the 18th).

After having the horses shoed for the ice and going through veterinary check, we were given access to the ice.

It is a fantastic feeling to ride there; the ice on a skating track is not as slippery as on a hockey rink, you can really feel that the studs and ice nails provide the horses with a good grip on the ice.

Both horses were registered to participate in T1 (tölt) and V1 (fourgait). Hrísey and Charlotta ended up in 28th and 29th place, with the points 6.11 and 6.17 in the respective classes.

Glóðafeykir and Svana came in 16th in T1 with 6.72 and made it to the A finals in V1 with 7.22!

The A finals took place in the afternoon and Glóðafeykir finished in 6th place with the points 7.17.

This year, we offered our customers the chance to travel with us in order to get a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes of such an event. Anna Blanc accompanied us with a VIP ticket giving her access to the stables and to a diner and party with all the participants to this international competition. A dream come true for a few people…

We use this opportunity to thank Anna for kindly letting us use her photos of the event which you can see beside this text.

The Pur Cheval team also would like to thank Icehorse Eindhoven’s great staff for an amazing event. We are already looking forward to coming back next year!
